Edgar Martins wins Juror’s Choice Award in the Hariban Photography Prize 2023
Our War, a selection of images from Edgar Martins’ new project titled “Anton’s hand is made of guilt, no muscle or bone. He has two clinically depressed fingers and an angry thumb”, has won the Juror’s Choice Award at the Hariban Prize 2023. Selected by Nestan Nijaradz, this work-in-progress project is based on a poignant and very personal story and experience: the death and disappearance of the artist’s good friend, photojournalist Anton Hammerl, during the 2011 Libyan war.

Edgar Martins’ new project Anton’s hand is made of guilt, no muscle or bone. He has two clinically depressed fingers and an angry thumb, wins the Portrait Category of the SONY World Photography Awards 2023. The artist also took the main prize of the evening: Photographer of the year.

The Meitar Award for Excellence in Photography shortlist
For the second year running Edgar Martins’ work is shortlisted for the Meitar Award for Execrllence in Photography. This year the series What Photography & Inc. have in Common with an Empty Vase was the selected work. The work of the nominated artists will be on show during the 9th edition of Photo Israel, from 17 – 27 Nov 2021.

Hangar Prize PhotoBrussels 2020 winners
